was born in Pennsylvania in 1963 and raised in the Philadelphia region. He
completed his medical and doctoral degrees at the University of Pennsylvania. His
research focused upon neurotransmitters involved in Alzheimer's disease, and
communication pathways within tumor cells. During his training, he was awarded a
Predoctoral Fellowship from the National Institutes of Health. In 1994, Dr. Wall
received a Medical Student Excellence in Research Award from the American
Federation for Clinical Research. An avid surgical historian, Dr. Wall was awarded the
Dr. Charles W. Burris History of Medicine Prize in 1995.
His basic science studies on tumors prompted him to pursue training in the medical specialty that manages cancers
of the head and face regions. Following his residency in Otorhinolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University
of Pennsylvania, Dr. Wall completed a clinical fellowship at the University of Toronto in Facial Plastic Surgery with
Dr. Peter A. Adamson, M.D., the President of the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
(ABFPRS). In his career, Dr. Wall has authored more than twenty scientific papers, review articles and book
chapters. He is a member of the American Rhinologic Society and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and
Reconstructive Surgery.
"The technical demands upon plastic and reconstructive surgeons are considerable, but equally important is the
creative process underlying their work. While an approach must be planned to address the concern prompting the
consultation, no single procedure is suitable for all patients. Whether for aesthetic indications or reconstructing a
defect brought on by cancer, the approach serves only as a guideline. The challenge for the surgeon lies in
addressing the unique structural problem, modifying the planned approach, with adaptations tailored to the
anatomical features presented. The required standard for performance is high, as the ultimate product is one held
before the community for approval."
"I believe the field of facial plastic surgery offers a unique blend of technology, art, surgical excellence, and patient
care. Each day, I have the opportunity to contribute my skills within this demanding field, and to live up to a standard
of excellence. That is my commitment to my patients."
